ABOUT GAFFNEY MASSAGE & HOLISTIC THERAPIES

About Sheena

I didn't set out to become the practitioner people find when they've run out of options. But after 20+ years in practice, that's exactly who I've become, and honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way.

It started with my dad. A catastrophic arm injury ended his roofing business, and almost as an afterthought he suggested I look into massage therapy. It took four years for that seed to actually take root, but when it did, it changed everything. I found something I was genuinely good at, work that felt meaningful, and a way of helping people that went beyond surface-level relief.

Then my son was diagnosed with ADHD, dyslexia, and anxiety at seven years old, and the only solution anyone offered was medication. I said absolutely not. His brain was still developing, and medicating him into compliance wasn't something I was willing to accept. He was my 2nd born and at the time we had 4 kids at home with the 2 more still to come. So I went looking for something better.

What I found changed our entire family's health. Dietary changes, essential oils, drastically reducing screen time, more outdoor play and sunshine, and a completely different way of seeing him. I learned that his wiggling wasn't defiance, it was how his brain processed the world. We worked WITH his wiring instead of against it, homeschooled for part of his education, and watched him thrive. He graduated high school early and now has a thriving military career following in his father's footsteps.

That experience didn't just change how I parent. It changed how I practice.

Why I do this work

When my son was struggling, I was told repeatedly that this was just how it was. Normal labs, normal development for his diagnosis, nothing more to be done. I knew that wasn't true, and I went looking until I found what was actually going on.

I do the same thing for my clients.

My husband's military career gave me a front-row seat to what veterans and military families actually carry, the physical toll, the invisible wounds, and the way the system hands them a prescription and calls it care.

Whether you're coming in with chronic shoulder pain that nobody can explain, bloodwork that keeps coming back "normal" while you feel anything but, or a kid who just got handed a diagnosis and a prescription you're not sure about, I'm the practitioner who keeps looking. Because "this is just how it is" has never been a good enough answer for me.

My Approach

I treat the person, not the diagnosis. That sounds simple, but in practice it means your two-hour initial consult isn't a quick intake form, it's a real conversation about your full history, your symptoms, your lifestyle, and everything that's been dismissed or overlooked. I'm looking for the thread that connects it all, because there almost always is one.

My goal isn't to keep you coming back forever. It's to get you to the point where you don't need me anymore, or at least not as often. I want to put the power back in your hands so you can actually understand what's happening in your body and make informed decisions about your own health.

Healing isn't always linear, and I'll be honest with you about that. But every step forward is still forward, and I'm not giving up on you until we find what's actually going on.

Your Options To Work With Me

For Physical Pain & Injuries

Massage isn't just relaxation. When you come in with chronic neck tension, a shoulder that won't quit, or headaches your doctor calls stress, I'm looking at what's actually driving it, not just where it hurts. 20+ years of working with first responders, veterans, and athletes means I've seen the kind of pain that doesn't show up on imaging, and I know how to find it anyway.

For Unexplained Symptoms & Chronic Conditions

When your labs come back normal but you still feel exhausted, foggy, or just off, you're dealing with a missing-information problem. Functional health consulting looks at the subtle shifts in your bloodwork that standard medicine overlooks, connects the dots between symptoms that seem unrelated, and builds a plan around what's actually going on.

For Whole-Person Healing

Your shoulder pain, brain fog, anxiety, exhaustion, thinning hair, athlete's foot, and low libido aren't separate problems - they're your body telling one story.

Homeopathy works by understanding that story, matching a precise remedy to your unique symptom picture, and supporting your body to heal from the inside out rather than suppressing what it's trying to tell you.

My Promise to You

I won't:

  • I won't tell you your labs are normal and send you home with nothing.

  • I won't hand you a prescription and call it a plan.

  • I won't treat your shoulder without asking why it hurts.

  • I won't look at your kid's diagnosis without asking what's underneath it.

I will:

  • What I will do is listen, actually listen

  • I will look at the whole picture

  • And I will stay with your through every twist and turn of the healing process

If you're willing to trust the process, I'm not going anywhere.
